The Last Unicorn is a 1982 fantasy film, based on the novel written by Peter S. Beagle, and adapted by him for the screenplay. The film is an animated movie produced by Rankin/Bass for ITC Entertainment and animated by Topcraft.

The animation presented many similarties with THE HOBBIT and previous THE LAST UNICORN, since it was mostly made by the same animators team. Tadakatsu Yoshida and Hidemi Kubo took care of layout, inspired by original book illustrator Wayne Anderson, while Katsuhisa Yamada and Fumihiko Takayama did storyboard and co-direction
